When treatment should be postponed or avoided

At the consultation before your first session, we assess your general health, skin type and any risk factors. In some situations we recommend postponing treatment or consulting a doctor before proceeding.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

As a precaution, we don't perform laser hair removal on pregnant or breastfeeding clients, even though there's no definitive evidence of harm β€” hormonal changes during this period can also affect treatment results.

Skin conditions and infections

  • Active infections, herpes, or open wounds on the treatment zone.
  • Active inflamed acne on the planned treatment zone.
  • Psoriasis or eczema in an acute flare on the treatment zone.
  • Fresh sunburn or significantly tanned skin.

Medications and photosensitivity

Certain medications (some antibiotics, retinoids, isotretinoin) increase skin's sensitivity to light and raise the risk of irritation or pigmentation changes. Be sure to mention any medications you're currently taking at the consultation.

Tattoos and permanent makeup

The laser shouldn't be aimed directly at tattoos or areas with permanent makeup, since dark pigment absorbs the laser's energy differently. These zones are treated with extra caution or avoided.
