Why preparation matters

The laser beam targets pigment in the hair root. Properly preparing your skin and hair before your appointment directly affects how effective the treatment is and reduces the risk of irritation, so it's worth taking a few minutes to get it right.

Shave the zone 24 hours before your appointment

Hair left on the skin's surface can absorb the laser's energy before it reaches the root, reducing effectiveness and increasing the risk of irritation. Shaving 24 hours ahead leaves the hair in the follicle visible to the laser, while the skin's surface is free of excess hair.

Avoid sun exposure and self-tanning

Tanned skin is more sensitive to the laser and increases the risk of pigmentation changes. We recommend avoiding sun exposure, tanning beds and self-tanning creams for at least two weeks before your appointment.

No plucking, waxing or tweezing

These methods remove hair along with the root, leaving the laser nothing to act on. During the preparation period for a series of treatments, remove hair by shaving only.

On the day of your appointment

  • Arrive with skin free of perfumed creams, deodorant or lotion on the treatment zone.
  • Avoid caffeine right before your appointment if you have sensitive skin β€” it can increase sensitivity.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that easily exposes the treatment zone.
If you've recently been in the sun, let us know at the consultation β€” we'll adjust the device settings or suggest rescheduling to protect your skin.

What happens after preparation?

Once the zone is shaved and the skin is free of creams, come to your scheduled appointment. Leave the rest of the process β€” cooling, device settings and the treatment itself β€” to our team.
